China's self-developed 2-ton electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, named "Cariou," has triumphantly concluded a trial flight for trans-oceanic material transportation, navigating from Shenzhen to the Huizhou 19-3 offshore oil platform. The entire voyage, spanning 150 kilometers, was completed in 58 minutes, carrying fresh fruits and emergency medications. This landmark flight underscores the technical viability and operational dependability of eVTOLs in intricate maritime settings. When juxtaposed with conventional transport methods, eVTOLs offer the benefits of cost-efficiency, swift responsiveness, and environmental friendliness. Additionally, the trial flight rigorously tested capabilities such as vertical take-off and landing, as well as hovering, thereby exploring the extensive application potential of low-altitude economics within the energy sector.
