A user has recently reported an alarming incident where their Pixel 6a smartphone caught fire following charging, causing the bedsheets to ignite and emitting dense smoke. Prior to this incident, Google had already addressed concerns by issuing a software update that restricted the battery performance of certain Pixel 6a devices. This move was in response to findings that the model might overheat or catch fire after undergoing 400 charging cycles. As a precaution, Google offered a complimentary battery replacement service to affected users. Nonetheless, some users encountered phone overheating issues even after applying the update, and these problems were only resolved through battery replacement. Adding to these concerns, another incident in May of this year saw a Pixel 6a battery expand and explode, highlighting potential safety risks associated with this particular model.
