The intense rivalry among "Hundreds of Smart Glasses" in China has reached a fever pitch. Manufacturers of AR/AI glasses made their grand debut at this year's World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), emerging as the new darlings of the exhibition. Xu Chi, the founder and CEO of XREAL, emphasized that the current surge in "Hundreds of Smart Glasses" competition is largely fueled by market enthusiasm, and the smart glasses industry is still very much in its nascent stages. He believes that the development of smart glasses is merely in the initial phase of its journey. Over the past decade, only a handful of companies have truly reaped benefits, with virtually none achieving profitability. Xu Chi imparted three key lessons from his decade-long experience in the AR glasses industry: Firstly, companies must possess long-term strategic perseverance and clarity regarding their capabilities and limitations; secondly, they should refrain from chasing short-term gains and instead focus on refining their products; finally, investments in technologies such as chips and optics require planning 3-4 years ahead, necessitating perseverance from companies to achieve breakthroughs.
