In late January 2025, Microsoft introduced two new Surface laptops tailored for business professionals: the Surface Laptop and the Surface Pro, both powered by Intel's latest Core Ultra 200 series processors. At that time, Microsoft hinted at an upcoming 5G connectivity option. Today, the company has fulfilled that promise by integrating this highly anticipated feature into the Surface Laptop, now dubbed the Surface Laptop 5G. Retaining the same specifications as its non-5G counterpart, the Surface Laptop 5G distinguishes itself with its support for 5G networks and compatibility with both Nano SIM and eSIM cards. To ensure robust signal reception, Microsoft has ingeniously engineered a dynamic antenna system comprising six strategically positioned antennas, allowing the laptop to seamlessly transition between cellular and Wi-Fi connections for uninterrupted connectivity. Furthermore, the Surface Laptop 5G can function as a mobile hotspot, providing internet access to other devices in Wi-Fi-free zones. Scheduled for release on August 26, 2025, the Surface Laptop 5G will be available at a starting price of $1,799.
