Google Chrome is set to discontinue support for outdated operating systems, notably Android 8.0 Oreo, Android 9.0 Pie, and macOS 11 Big Sur. With the impending release of Chrome version 139, anticipated on August 5, Chrome will cease compatibility with the first two Android versions mentioned, marking Chrome 138 as the final version to support them. Furthermore, Chrome 139 will also terminate support for macOS 11 Big Sur. This strategic decision by Google is presumably prompted by the dwindling user base on these legacy systems and the escalating costs associated with maintaining support for them. Consequently, Google urges users still utilizing these outdated systems to upgrade promptly to ensure uninterrupted updates and robust security support for Chrome.
