Zeng Dejun, the pioneering founder of Mao Wang Audio, recently posted a video in which he voiced his frustration regarding an encounter with Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun during an investment negotiation over a decade ago. As one of the pioneers in the smart speaker industry in China, Zeng Dejun approached Shunwei Capital, managed by Lei Jun, to discuss his project. According to Zeng, Lei Jun appeared indifferent, inquiring dismissively, "What is the purpose of a smart speaker?" Following this exchange, Lei Jun reportedly stood up and left without further engagement, leaving Zeng feeling disrespected. This narrative has sparked widespread debate online, with critics accusing Lei Jun of arrogance and others questioning Zeng Dejun's motivations as a publicity ploy.

In a subsequent video, Zeng Dejun sought to clarify his stance, emphasizing that he harbors no malice towards Lei Jun or Xiaomi and urging the public not to misconstrue the situation. Xiaomi, for its part, has responded stating that it has never encountered any unpleasant experiences with Zeng Dejun.
