The National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center has identified 64 mobile applications engaging in illegal and irregular collection and use of personal information. Issues uncovered include failing to adequately prompt users to read privacy policies, not specifying the scope of information collected in detail, and sharing information without securing explicit consent from users. Following a re-evaluation, 28 of these applications continue to exhibit these issues and have been subsequently removed from distribution platforms.
