In a groundbreaking patent infringement ruling in the UK, Apple has been ordered to pay over $700 million to Texas-based cellular technology company Optis. The Court of Appeal of England and Wales in London decided that Apple must pay Optis Cellular Technology LLC a one-time damages award of $502 million for the unauthorized use of standard-essential 4G patents in iPhones and iPads from 2013 to 2027.
