A research team led by Chen Zhongwei from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has achieved a notable milestone by integrating an ultra-low-temperature, high-energy-density lithium battery into a hexarotor drone. This groundbreaking achievement was validated through a successful test flight conducted in the frigid temperatures of -36°C in Mohe. The battery's innovative design incorporates a novel electrolyte formula and advanced anode material modification technology, ensuring stable operation across a broad temperature range of -40°C to 50°C.

Furthermore, through sophisticated adaptive thermal management and an optimized low-temperature impedance design, the team has succeeded in limiting the battery's range attenuation rate to within 10% of its room-temperature performance at -40°C. This represents a substantial improvement over industry standards. This technological advancement holds significant promise for providing reliable power solutions in polar scientific research, border inspection, disaster relief, and other critical fields.
