Vietnam serves as Samsung Electronics' largest smartphone production base. As the Trump administration intensifies its tariff policies, pressure on Vietnam continues to mount. The United States is currently investigating Vietnam's intellectual property protection practices and plans to decide by the end of this month whether to impose additional tariffs. A significant portion of Samsung's smartphones sold in the U.S. market are manufactured in Vietnam, and any additional tariffs would undermine the company's pricing power and profit margins. The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced on the 6th that it intends to complete its Section 301 investigation into Vietnam's intellectual property protection and enforcement by the 29th.
