Reports indicate that LG Electronics is partnering with Apple to create smart home devices and intends to leverage overseas manufacturing sites to set up a production network for these offerings. The smart home gadgets developed jointly by the two tech giants span seven categories: smart door locks, video doorbells, thermostats, temperature sensors, indoor and outdoor security cameras, as well as lighting-integrated security cameras. Notably, the smart door locks, thermostats, and temperature sensors will be manufactured by the Vietnamese subsidiary of Hyundai HT, a South Korean smart home company. According to certification documents filed by LG Electronics with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, Hyundai HT’s Vietnam plant has been designated as the production site for these items.
