On October 12, preliminary data unveiled by Gartner revealed that global personal computer shipments in the third quarter of 2026 reached a mere 55.4 million units. This represents a significant year-on-year decline of 22.4%, marking the lowest point since the first quarter of 2023. Gartner's lead analyst, Namrata Banerjee, pointed out that the soaring costs of storage semiconductors have now been fully factored into PC prices. Consequently, the PC market is gravitating towards high-end offerings, thereby increasing the financial strain on consumers looking to upgrade their devices.
