According to pertinent sources, Apple is teaming up with LG to develop six types of smart home accessories, such as thermostats, temperature and humidity sensors, and smart door locks. These products will come in two versions: a standard one and an LG smart home brand GEMS variant. However, the specific disparities between the two remain unclear at this stage. Moreover, Apple will also collaborate with Schneider to introduce four related accessories, including thermostats and temperature and humidity sensors. Details regarding three specific products from Apple's partnership with LG have been disclosed: The smart door lock comes in two color choices—graphite and silver—and operates on four AA batteries. It supports Bluetooth, Thread, NFC, and UWB technologies, facilitating authorized unlocking through Bluetooth credential verification or UWB positioning. The round smart thermostat is compatible with 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread protocols. It is equipped with a built-in 60GHz radar to detect human presence or proximity and offers features like far-sight display, humidity display, screen brightness and language adjustment, as well as temperature calibration offset. The round temperature and humidity sensor is powered by a 3-volt CR2477 coin cell battery and supports Bluetooth Low Energy and Thread connectivity. It can measure temperature and humidity simultaneously, features a magnetic back for attaching to metal surfaces, and includes an adhesive metal plate for other installation scenarios. The battery is replaceable, and a low-battery alert is triggered when necessary.
