On October 3, reports emerged that Google has raised the price of its budget-conscious smartphone, the Pixel 10a, by $100, bringing it to $599. This price adjustment comes just seven months after the phone's initial release, underscoring the far-reaching impact of the ongoing memory chip shortage on consumer electronics pricing, extending even to older models. This week, Samsung followed suit, increasing the prices of most Galaxy S26 variants by $100. Meanwhile, Apple's recently launched iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which hit the market last month, are priced higher than their predecessors, and some older Apple models have also seen price hikes.
When Google unveiled the Pixel 11 series in August of this year, it generally raised prices by $100 across the board for each model. However, the company partially mitigated the impact of these increases by boosting the storage capacity of the base versions, offering consumers more value for their money.
