Recently, Matt Birchler, a tech enthusiast and developer, carried out an imaginative experiment: he used a can of icy-cold La Croix sparkling water to cool down an iPhone 18 Pro. The test outcomes revealed that in a speech-to-text benchmark test, the iPhone 18 Pro, without any cooling methods in place, initially clocked a processing speed of 447.9 words per second. Yet, as heat built up, its performance started to dip gradually from the 7th round of testing, finally plateauing at around 320.9 words per second—marking a nearly 30% decline. After applying the chilled sparkling water to the back of the phone, its average processing speed bounced back to 400.4 words per second over 20 consecutive high-intensity tests. This indicates a sustained performance enhancement of roughly 25.1%. When it comes to the device's temperature, without the help of cold beverages, roughly half of the testing rounds witnessed the phone hitting the 'severe' heat level. In contrast, with the chilled sparkling water in use, the highest heat level recorded throughout was merely 'moderate'.
