Meta has introduced the Meta VR Glasses, a virtual reality headset priced at $1,299. This device represents a significant shift in headset design, incorporating computing components such as the processor, cooling fan, and battery into an external computing pack that can be hung in the user's pocket or placed on a table. This design differs from Meta's previous models, which integrated components within the headset, and also from Apple's Vision Pro, which only separates the battery. The Meta VR Glasses offer features such as immersive video playback, office applications, functioning as a computer monitor, web browsing, gaming, video conferencing, and voice assistants, similar to the capabilities of the Vision Pro and Meta's existing Quest headsets. The device is set to be available in spring 2027.
