On September 16 (local time), the US International Trade Commission (ITC) announced its decision to launch a Section 337 investigation concerning electronic devices that incorporate specific audio technology. The companies listed as respondents in this investigation are Apple, Samsung (along with its US subsidiaries), and Google. The move comes in response to a complaint lodged by BoomCloud 360, a US-based entity, on August 14. The complaint asserts that the pertinent devices imported and sold by these companies infringe upon BoomCloud 360's patents (Patent Nos.: 10,524,078, 11,533,560, 11,051,121). Consequently, BoomCloud 360 has requested the ITC to issue a limited exclusion order and a cease-and-desist order. Within 45 days of initiating the case, the ITC will establish a deadline for completing the investigation. Should the infringement be confirmed, the related products may be barred from entering the US market.
