The AI-powered smart glasses, developed through a collaboration between Meta and EssilorLuxottica, feature a compact camera capable of discreet filming. The Paris Prosecutor's Office has recently launched at least one criminal investigation into a sexual harassment complaint related to smart glasses, involving a popular practice on social media where individuals film women on the street without consent and upload the videos online. The French National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) has received fewer than 10 complaints concerning the use of smart glasses in the workplace. Wearable devices equipped with AI functionality are currently subject to the EU's Artificial Intelligence Act and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). French law also protects individual privacy, with unauthorized filming of individuals in private settings punishable by up to one year in prison or a fine of €45,000.
