The Mutual File Transfer Alliance is on the verge of launching the 'Tap and Transfer' technical standard, with intentions to initiate system updates for compatible devices from mid-October onwards. Prior to this development, the tap-to-transfer feature lacked a standardized approach across various device brands. The technical experts from Honor, OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi collaborated to draft, develop, and conduct joint testing of the standard, thereby harmonizing the foundational specifications. This standard facilitates seamless interoperability among devices from these four manufacturers, allowing for the effortless transfer of files, such as images and documents, without the necessity of downloading additional apps. It is seamlessly integrated into the system and becomes accessible post-update. This innovative technology merges NFC (Near Field Communication) with Wi-Fi P2P direct connection solutions. When two phones that support this standard are gently tapped together at their backs, they automatically perform handshake authentication and proceed to transfer files via a high-speed Wi-Fi channel. In contrast to traditional Bluetooth, this technology offers a substantial boost in the speed of transferring large files and operates independently of an external network, without consuming any data.
