South Korean media outlets have reported that Samsung Electronics is set to substantially broaden its range of foldable smartphones in 2027. The tech giant plans to unveil five new models within the Galaxy Z series, among which two will be wide-folding phones. This move is underpinned by the robust market performance of the Galaxy Z Fold8, with its wide-folding variant capturing up to 70% of sales in the South Korean market. The upcoming wide-folding models will sport a different screen ratio than the Fold8's 4:3, leaning closer to 16:9, which would make them better suited for video consumption. The other three models will include the Fold9 Ultra, a high-end flagship; the Flip9, a clamshell foldable; and the TriFold2, a triple-folding model. All five models are slated for release in the latter half of 2027 and might make their debut with the One UI 10 system, built on Android 18.
