Apple is set to implement a series of modifications to its European App Store policies. Specifically, it will abolish installation-based fees for developers operating in non-iPhone app markets. In their place, Apple will institute a 5% digital transaction commission, as opposed to the core technology fee. This new commission structure will apply to apps distributed outside the platform. Additionally, the commission rate for in-app purchases within Europe will see a reduction from 30% to 26%. This change will empower developers to provide alternative payment methods, expanding beyond the confines of Apple Pay. Concurrently, Apple has rolled out fresh child safety protocols, mandating parental consent for users under the age of 18 who opt for alternative payment methods or are redirected to web-based transactions. These measures are designed to address and resolve competition-related disputes with the European Union.
