Joby Aviation announced on Tuesday its plan to acquire defense technology company Resonant Sciences for approximately $500 million, aiming to expand its presence in the growing defense market. As commercial development takes longer than expected and conflicts in Ukraine-Russia and the Middle East drive up defense spending, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft companies are now focusing on the military market as a new business priority.
