According to a report from South Korean media outlet ETNews, Apple is recalibrating its supply chain strategy to counteract cost pressures stemming from escalating prices of crucial components, notably memory and flash storage. In the second quarter of 2026, Apple prolonged the average inventory holding period for iPhone OLED display panels from four weeks to six weeks. Through expanding its procurement scale and extending inventory cycles, the tech giant aims to slash procurement costs per component and stabilize overall production expenses. Samsung Display and LG Display continue to be the primary suppliers of OLED panels for Apple's iPhones, while BOE holds a comparatively smaller market share. Display industry insiders indicate that a six-week reserve cycle is poised to become standard practice, with expectations that this duration may extend even further upon the release of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
