According to technology insider Mark Gurman, Apple is strict about keeping the naming of its unreleased new devices confidential. However, among internal employees in private communication, the foldable iPhone is already commonly referred to as the 'iPhone Ultra.' Previously, this foldable iPhone was planned to debut in the fall of 2026, featuring a book-style inward folding design. The initial model will come with a 7.8-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch outer screen, abandoning Face ID in favor of on-device Touch ID, and will be powered by an A20 chip paired with a C2 self-developed baseband. Additionally, Apple has planned a three-generation iteration roadmap for its foldable iPhones, with the third-generation model expected to launch as early as 2028.
