On August 10, it was reported that AI technology is steadily making inroads into even the most private corners of our daily lives—the realm of toilets. According to Business Insider, leveraging the ongoing advancements in sensors, computer vision, and AI technology, companies such as Throne Science, TOTO, and Kohler are actively delving into the realm of smart toilets and their accompanying external devices. These innovations are transforming bathrooms into cutting-edge health data collection hubs by automatically analyzing users' feces and urine.
Among these pioneering products, Throne Science's Throne One smart camera device stands out. It can be effortlessly clipped onto a toilet, harnessing AI to scrutinize the condition of feces, the color of urine, and users' toilet habits, all while meticulously recording long-term changes. Meanwhile, TOTO has unveiled its Stool Scan product in Japan. This device employs built-in sensors to measure the shape, firmness, color, and volume of feces, transmitting the results to a dedicated application. TOTO has ambitions to introduce this product to the U.S. market in early 2027.
Kohler's Dekoda device is another notable entry in this field, capable of detecting traces of blood in feces and signs of dehydration indicated by urine. Furthermore, companies like Vivoo and Withings have also rolled out similar offerings, collectively propelling the growth of the smart toilet market.
