Multiple independent sources have confirmed that Kong Tao, the former leader of ByteDance's robotics team, has officially joined Xiaomi, where he now heads up the company's robotics base model team. According to several insiders, Kong Tao made the move to Xiaomi in the summer of 2025, bringing along with him a number of former ByteDance employees. Presently, Xiaomi's robotics division boasts a team of around 200 members. A source close to Xiaomi's robotics division revealed that the base model team operates in a somewhat mysterious manner, occupying an independent office space. Moreover, Kong Tao is exempt from attending Lark meetings with Xiaomi's top executives. Additionally, Xiaomi's robotics division upholds a stringent level of internal confidentiality.
