The Austrian cooling solutions provider, Noctua, recently published a blog post highlighting that the CPU cooler height limits specified by chassis manufacturers are, at times, unreliable. To substantiate this claim, Noctua's team undertook manual measurements of over 100 PC cases. Their findings revealed that 56 of these cases exhibited discrepancies when compared to the manufacturer's stated specifications. This issue is particularly pronounced in Small Form Factor (SFF) and ITX builds, where height compatibility is crucial and must be precise down to the millimeter. To mitigate the risk of users selecting incompatible coolers, Noctua has compiled detailed tables for each measured case, specifying which coolers are suitable. For instance, the NZXT H2 Flow case, which is labeled with a height limit of 75mm, actually measures 79mm. Similarly, the ASUS Prime AP201 is marked as having a 170mm limit but was found to measure 168.3mm.
