On August 3, the latest data released by Counterpoint Research revealed that, in the second quarter of 2026, the revenue generated by the global smartphone market surged by 7% year-on-year, hitting a record high of $109 billion. Notably, this revenue growth occurred despite a simultaneous decline in shipment volumes. The average selling price (ASP) of smartphones climbed by 17% year-on-year, reaching $400. The primary driving force behind this revenue increase was the rise in ASP, which was, in turn, influenced by two key factors: consumers' growing preference for high-end smartphones and Android manufacturers' decision to hike prices in response to escalating storage costs.
