Should a user fail to enter the correct password 13 times in succession, the device will be rendered permanently inaccessible, necessitating a factory reset that will erase all data not previously backed up. This updated security approach implements a graduated locking mechanism. Specifically, from the fifth incorrect attempt onward, the duration of the lockout period progressively lengthens with each subsequent unsuccessful try, culminating in a permanent lock after the thirteenth attempt. The primary objective of this strategy is to thwart brute-force attacks and safeguard user privacy.

Additionally, the system will prominently display the number of remaining unlock attempts and intelligently detect repeated incorrect inputs, thereby preventing unnecessary prolongation of the lockout period. At present, this feature is exclusively accessible on new devices that come pre-installed with One UI 9.
