Microsoft has recently released the KB5101650 cumulative update for Windows 11, which purports to address 570 security vulnerabilities. Nevertheless, following the installation, certain Dell models encountered unforeseen shutdowns, excessive overheating, significant performance degradation, and black screen crashes. Microsoft has promptly halted the distribution of the update for the affected devices and, on July 19, issued an emergency fix patch, KB5121767. The underlying issue stems from a clash between the updated USB-C connection manager interface and the Intel IPF driver installed on Dell models, leading to the system's loss of control over temperature regulation and power management.
