According to IDC's latest quarterly mobile phone tracking report, the Chinese smartphone market witnessed shipments of approximately 66.01 million units in the second quarter of 2026, marking a 4.3% year-on-year decrease. This continued downturn represents the fifth consecutive quarter of decline. In the first half of 2026, cumulative shipments reached about 134 million units, also down by 4.2% compared to the same period last year. Since late March, Android vendors, grappling with escalating costs of core components like storage, have had to raise product prices or tweak configurations, thereby dampening consumers' enthusiasm for upgrading their devices. Simultaneously, the boosting effect of the 'national subsidy' policy has diminished, with sales during this year's '618' shopping festival experiencing a nearly 15% year-on-year drop. In terms of market hierarchy, Huawei and Apple maintain a stronghold in the top tier, posting year-on-year shipment growth of 19.4% and 24.4%, respectively, in the second quarter. OPPO and vivo occupy the second tier, with Xiaomi and Honor trailing closely behind. IDC forecasts that as low-cost inventory materials dwindle and cost pressures mount in the latter half of the year, the year-on-year decline in China's smartphone market shipments could widen to approximately 20% in the second half of 2026.
