In December of last year, Samsung introduced its inaugural tri-folding screen smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold. However, the market's response was tepid, resulting in its discontinuation in South Korea after a mere three months on sale. Based on the most recent insider information, Samsung has decided to delay the release of the Galaxy Z TriFold 2. Instead, the tech giant is shifting its focus to the rollable screen smartphone, the Galaxy Z Slide, a project that has been in the works for several years, with plans to bring it to market ahead of the original schedule. This model is anticipated to make its debut alongside the Galaxy S28 series in 2028, marking a significant milestone as the world's first mass-produced rollable screen smartphone. To facilitate the production of these innovative rollable panels, Samsung will undertake a phased renovation of its flexible OLED production lines from 2026 to 2027. Should the launch proceed as planned, Samsung will not only gain a competitive edge in the rollable screen market but also play a pivotal role in shaping the industry standards that will govern this emerging technology.
