Microsoft has recently updated its documentation in a low-key manner, extending the Extended Security Update (ESU) support period for Windows 10 for individual users from the originally scheduled October 2026 to October 12, 2027. This means that home users who originally planned to replace their devices or upgrade their systems after the discontinuation of updates in 2026 can now receive an additional year of security patch support without the need to rush to replace their devices or upgrade their systems. The conditions for participating in the ESU program are running Windows 10 version 22H2 Home, Pro, Pro Education, or Workstation editions with the latest updates installed. There are three ways to register: activate it for free by syncing PC settings, redeem it with 1000 Microsoft Rewards points, or purchase it directly for $30. Registered users do not need to take any action, as the coverage will automatically extend to the new deadline.
