On June 17, 2026, Sony Semiconductor Shanghai made a groundbreaking announcement by introducing its inaugural mobile image sensor, the LYTIA L910, which incorporates LOFIC technology. This innovative sensor integrates lateral overflow integral capacitors adjacent to each photodiode, substantially boosting the pixel's full-well capacity. This advancement effectively tackles the challenge of photodiode saturation in high-light conditions, enabling the achievement of an ultra-high dynamic range (HDR) imaging capability of 100dB with just a single exposure. The LYTIA L910 is equipped with a 50-megapixel resolution, features a 1/1.28-inch optical sensor size, and boasts a single-pixel size of 1.22μm. It supports uninterrupted 4K video recording at 60fps with HDR functionality, all while consuming less power. The anticipated commencement of mass production for this sensor is slated for the summer of 2026, promising to drive advancements in mobile imaging hardware and elevate performance in challenging lighting conditions, such as backlit and low-light environments.
