Based on reports from multiple U.S. media outlets, on June 10 and 11 (local time), DJI and DJI Osmo brought a patent infringement lawsuit against Insta360 and its affiliated entities before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. DJI alleged that Insta360's newly launched Luna series handheld gimbal cameras, which debuted on June 9, have infringed upon two of its design patents and four invention patents. These patents encompass core technologies such as gimbal electromechanical control and shooting control mechanisms. DJI has petitioned the court to issue a permanent injunction, requiring Insta360 to surrender any profits derived from the infringement, pay compensatory damages, and fulfill other legal obligations. In response, on June 12, Insta360 filed a countersuit against DJI in the U.S., involving five invention patents, and sought a court declaration that DJI's relevant patents are invalid.
