On the early morning of June 4, 2026, Beijing Time, the well-known technology analyst Guo Mingchi posted a message, revealing that John Ternus, who is poised to assume the role of Apple's next CEO, has given the green light to a streamlined development roadmap for Apple's eyewear products. Guo Mingchi pointed out that the roadmap for Apple's XR headsets and smart glasses, which he had formulated a year prior, is now obsolete. Currently, only two smart glasses products remain on the roadmap. Specifically, Apple's AR/XR smart glasses, featuring optical waveguide displays, have been delayed until 2029. On the other hand, AI glasses without displays, akin to the Ray-Ban Meta model, are still slated for release in 2027. Guo Mingchi is of the opinion that Apple's strategic shift is a prudent move, suggesting that resources should be redirected towards the AI glasses segment, which holds greater potential for widespread consumer adoption.
