In response to the EU's Digital Markets Act, Apple is developing system-level functionality that allows users to use third-party screen-casting protocols as an alternative to AirPlay. This feature is expected to be rolled out only in the EU region. Starting from iOS 27, AirPlay may no longer be the default screen-casting method, and users can set options like Google Cast as their default screen-casting tool, enabling native connectivity between Apple devices and smart speakers or screen-casting devices without the need for AirPlay compatibility or Bluetooth reliance.
