On May 23, China's self-developed 600-kg thrust F406 turbofan engine triumphantly accomplished its inaugural flight test above the Xilingol League in Inner Mongolia. This engine, crafted by Sichuan Tianfu Light Power Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary under the China Aviation Engine Group, boasts features such as high-altitude performance, high-speed capability, long-endurance, and exceptional reliability. It successfully bridges several technological gaps within China's small-to-medium thrust turbofan engine domain. This milestone test signifies China's inaugural achievement in independently controlling and domestically applying high-end small-to-medium thrust turbofan engines within the general aviation power sector. It provides a solid foundation of power support for the low-altitude economy and the construction of unmanned systems.
