On May 5, Apple reached a $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit regarding the promotion of its Apple Intelligence features. The lawsuit, filed by shareholders in a California federal court in 2024, alleged that Apple misled consumers by failing to deliver on time features such as the Siri artificial intelligence upgrades announced at its 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference. The case involved U.S. users who purchased the entire iPhone 16 lineup and iPhone 15 Pro series models between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Each device is eligible for a base compensation of $25, with a maximum payout of $95 if the number of claims is lower than expected. Apple did not admit fault, and the settlement agreement requires judge approval, with a hearing scheduled for June 17.
