The Beijing Municipal Regulations on the Management of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles will officially take effect on May 1, 2026. Under these regulations, the entire area of Beijing will be classified as controlled airspace for drones, meaning all outdoor drone flights will require prior approval. Drone owners will also be required to complete real-name registration and undergo information verification. Furthermore, the sale or lease of drones and their core components within Beijing will be strictly prohibited, as will the transportation or carrying of such items into the city. Any storage of drones must adhere to stringent safety regulations.
