On April 28, 2026, Apple introduced a fresh subscription approach for the App Store, featuring an annual subscription plan that allows users to make monthly payments over a 12-month commitment term. This model enables users to benefit from annual discounted rates while spreading the cost through monthly installments, thereby alleviating the financial strain associated with a lump-sum payment. For developers, this presents an opportunity to provide attractive discounts and foster greater long-term user retention. Users will have the convenience of tracking both paid and outstanding installments directly within their App Store account settings. They retain the flexibility to cancel the subscription at any point; however, cancellation entails the obligation to fulfill all 12 scheduled payments. This new functionality is set to debut in May alongside the official launch of iOS 26.5, with compatibility extending to devices running iOS 26.4 and later versions. Notably, the initial rollout will exclude the United States and Singapore.
