The latest renderings of Sony's new flagship device, the Xperia 1 VIII, have been made public. These images, which originate from MyMobiles and are based on CAD data provided by Sony's supply chain, are believed to closely resemble the final mass-produced version. The back of the new smartphone showcases a square camera module, housing three cameras and an LED flash. Notably, the primary and telephoto lenses incorporate larger sensors for enhanced photography. The front of the device preserves the classic symmetrical design characteristic of the Xperia series, featuring a 6.5-inch screen devoid of any notch or punch-hole. The front-facing camera and earpiece are seamlessly integrated into the top bezel, while the bottom bezel accommodates a secondary speaker.
In terms of specifications, the new Xperia 1 VIII will be powered by Qualcomm's fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It will come with a standard configuration of at least 12GB of memory, complemented by LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, offering a 25% boost in performance compared to its predecessor. For the imaging system, the device will be equipped with three 48-megapixel cameras, capable of full-resolution shooting. The primary camera boasts a 1/1.35-inch sensor, while the telephoto lens supports continuous optical zoom ranging from 85-170mm, along with new AI image stabilization technology and Zeiss T* coating for superior image quality.
In the audio department, the Xperia 1 VIII incorporates Walkman-related technology, featuring an independent DAC chip and a high-power 3.5mm headphone jack, delivering a signal-to-noise ratio of 120dB for an immersive audio experience. Additionally, the device's screen resolution has been adjusted from 4K to 1080P+, paired with a robust 5000mAh battery. However, it is worth noting that the device only supports up to 18 hours of heavy usage on a single charge. As for the operating system, it's important to mention that in China, the device does not support Google services, and there is a lack of localized features tailored to the Chinese market.
