The "Beijing Municipal Regulations on the Management of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" are set to take effect on May 1st, 2026. According to these regulations, the entire administrative area of Beijing is designated as a controlled airspace for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), meaning that all outdoor flight activities will necessitate an application and subsequent approval. Concurrently, the regulations explicitly forbid the illicit production, assembly, modification, or hacking of UAV systems. They also prohibit the sale or lease of UAVs and their core components to entities and individuals within Beijing's administrative region, as well as the transportation or carrying of UAVs and their core components into Beijing (with the exception of those that have undergone real-name registration and information verification). Furthermore, the regulations outline the prerequisites for establishing storage sites and introduce specific safeguard measures, such as designating special flight zones in Yanqing District.
