On April 23, 2026, Apple rolled out iOS 26.4.2 and iPadOS 26.4.2 updates for iPhone and iPad users, a mere two weeks after the preceding release. This update is mainly geared towards enhancing system stability and bolstering security, notably by rectifying a flaw that could inadvertently leave deleted notifications on the device and by eliminating any lingering copies of such notifications. Additionally, Apple has also made iOS 18.7.8 available for older iPhone models to ensure their continued security. Eligible devices can now upgrade to the new system through 'Settings → General → Software Update'. It's worth mentioning that the vulnerability identifier CVE-2026-28950 has not been disclosed in public sources, and the FBI's alleged use of this vulnerability to access Signal messages remains unconfirmed by official channels.
