Between the evening of April 9 and the early hours of April 10, 2026, the official website of CPUID—the developer behind the renowned hardware detection tool CPU-Z and the hardware monitoring tool HWMonitor—fell victim to a cyberattack. The attackers exploited a secondary function (akin to a side API) to infiltrate the website over a period of approximately six hours. During this time, the main website displayed malicious links at random, luring users into downloading installation packages riddled with malware. The head of CPUID (the person in charge) confirmed that the original, digitally signed files remained unaltered. The issue has since been resolved, but users are urged to maintain heightened security awareness.
