As the consumer electronics market for computers and smartphones has transitioned into an inventory-focused phase, the first quarter of this year witnessed diverging trends between the two sectors. On April 8, data released by IDC revealed that global PC shipments in Q1 2024 reached approximately 65.6 million units, marking a year-on-year increase of 2.5%. Meanwhile, Omdia reported a slightly higher growth rate of 3.2%, with shipments totaling around 64.8 million units for the same period. Although there are minor discrepancies in the figures from the two research firms, both sets of data confirm that the PC market experienced positive growth at the start of the year.
