Based on the most recent updates from industry sources, Apple’s inaugural foldable iPhone, tentatively named the iPhone Fold, has seamlessly transitioned into trial production, encountering no significant hurdles. It is slated for release as anticipated at Apple’s autumn event this September, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. Earlier reports from Japanese media outlets, which suggested that testing had hit snags and could face delays, have been debunked. Esteemed analysts such as Gurman and the financial institution Morgan Stanley have both corroborated the scheduled release.

The iPhone Fold will feature a horizontally expansive folding design, incorporating a Samsung-customized LTPO OLED flexible display and a liquid metal hinge mechanism. Regarding the supply chain, Foxconn will serve as the exclusive assembler, while Samsung Display will be the sole provider of the screens. Apple has already placed an initial order for 7 to 8 million units, with projections indicating that shipments will surpass 5 million units by the end of this year.
