On Tuesday (local time), the Education Fund, a subsidiary of the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (U.S. PIRG), published a report for 2026 that evaluates the repairability of 10 of the latest laptops and mobile phones from various brands. Apple received the lowest scores in both laptop and mobile phone repairability, with grades of C- and D-, respectively. In the laptop category, ASUS achieved the highest score, earning a B+, while Motorola led in the mobile phone category. Apple's scores were penalized due to the difficulty involved in disassembling its devices and its membership in industry organizations that oppose repair-related legislation.
