The Hon Hai Group has officially commenced trial production of Apple’s inaugural foldable iPhone, provisionally dubbed the ‘iPhone Fold.’ The market is abuzz with optimism, anticipating that its launch will ignite a fresh wave of smartphone upgrades, injecting new growth momentum into the shipment volumes of supply chain partners like Hon Hai, TSMC, Largan, and Shiny Sun. The iPhone Fold boasts a horizontally folding, book-style inward design, complete with a 5.5-inch external display and a spacious 7.8-inch internal screen. It integrates cutting-edge under-display front camera technology and sports a robust titanium alloy frame, measuring a mere 9-9.5mm in thickness when closed and an impressively slim 4.5-4.8mm when fully expanded. Pricing is expected to start at a premium, with no less than $2,000 for the base model, while the Chinese domestic version is estimated to begin at RMB 14,000-15,000, with the top-tier variant potentially surpassing RMB 20,000.
