Apple’s online stores in China and the United States have recently updated their estimated delivery times, revealing that the Mac mini and Mac Studio models with high-memory configurations now face delays of up to 4 to 5 months. This supply bottleneck stems from a worldwide shortage of memory chips, largely driven by a sharp increase in demand from AI server companies.
For example, the Mac mini, equipped with the M4 Pro chip and 64GB of memory, is projected to ship within 16 to 18 weeks. Even the base model of the Mac mini is experiencing a delay of approximately one month. Similarly, the Mac Studio, featuring the M3 Ultra chip and 256GB of memory, also requires 4 to 5 months for delivery. Additionally, last month, Apple discontinued the 512GB memory configuration option for the Mac Studio, further limiting customer choices.
Despite the current stability or slight decline in memory chip prices, they still remain above their historical average levels. Consequently, it is unlikely that delivery times for the high-end Mac mini and Mac Studio models will see any significant improvement in the near future.
